#1221 new enhancement

Settings->Other->Userspare Backup should include all ~/.*/

Reported by: ChrisPZV Owned by: ainulindale
Priority: major Milestone: wishlist
Component: SHR Image Version: SHR-unstable
Keywords: Userspace Backup Settings restore home folder Cc:

Description

Userspace backup should include all ~/.*/ (are folders) in special ~/.e/, to save illume settings. This is needed, if e17 crashes and wants to start over and over again while crashing at startup and leading the user to a solution choice screen (which sometimes craches for me also) thus making the upper bar disappear...
At the moment I have to delete ~/.e/ after such fault to get illume default settings again.

save command(s) could be like this

DATE=date -I +%Y%m%d-%k%M

PATH="/media/card/"
FILE="archive-${DATE}.tar"

/bin/tar -cvf ${PATH}${FILE} /home/root/* /usr/share/applications/*.desktop /etc/phonefsod.conf /etc/freesmartphone/conf/* /usr/share/sounds/* /etc/profile

May be the restore process should suggest a reboot to the user.

I encountered a problem concerning the restore process using whole root home folder:
Restoring ~/.e/ (maybe it is ~/.efreet/, don't know exactly) leads to curious behaviour of the "task bar" (sorry for that M$ vocabular ;-)), it does not show the "< x >"-bar when tapping some free space.

Btw: the command above does not save hidden (starting with dot) files/dirs. "/home/root/*" needs to be changed to e.g. "/home/root".
