A fix provided by a dude from IRC:
<badcloud> I switched to HAL and it switched right back to auto
<thrashold> Yes, it does this, but switching to internal fixed it for me (even though the option says auto now)
I just happened to see the logs... :) anyhow, this works great here.

where? what? how?

I really thought I wrote it, something went wrong!
I wrote that I suspect it's an upstream issue (because you can't change the settings) and our issue, because the default settings are wrong.

The Battery-Gadget works again when you switch to "internal" in Illume Settings - Advanced - Battery Meter - Advanced - Hardware

It still works after a reboot, even when the Button in Settings shows Auto-Detect. The Problem is obviously caused by the installation of hald.

yes, I can confirm this too! :)
using "internal" fix the meter, but you must reboot to get it right or it will show randomly 33% and 100% as charge level on a full battery.
I think you can close this (but you should set this also in the .tgz image)
